Germany vs Portugal

World Cup, Germany 4 – 0 World Cup, Portugal

Salvador, Brazil

The Group G match took place at Arena Fonte Nova, in Salvador, Brazil. And it was not pretty…

Portugal’s superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been dealing with tendonitis and a thigh issue. Veterans Pepe and Raul Meireles have missed training due to recent injuries. Pepe headbutted Germany’s Thomas Muller (min 37) and Milorad Mazic gave Pepe a red card. The game did not improve for Portugal after that.

The 4-0 is great news for the USA. If Germany wins all of their Group G matches, the U.S. could get out of the group on goal difference if it beats Ghana and ties Portugal (or vice versa). The U.S. would get out of the group outright with wins over Ghana and Portugal. And Portugal is no longer invincible.
