Mathematically, England still has a chance after 2-1 Uruguay defeat

June 20th Update: Not anymore. Costa Rica’s 1-0 over Italy means that England will not go to the next round.

For England to go to the next round, they need Italy to beat Costa Rica on Friday, and then England must beat Costa Rica next Tuesday as well as hope that Italy simultaneously defeats Uruguay. The second place team from this group will play Colombia June 28.
